Attendance Trophy Rules

The Attendance Trophy was created to add interest to the attendance of Suzuki Owners Club organised events. It began in 1985 and has run every year since.

Events

  • Qualifying Events are those that are deemed eligible by an elected member of the Suzuki Owners Club National Committee, with responsibility for Events.
  • To qualify, all events must have been published in "Events News" at least once and all SOC members must have had the opportunity to see the notice and therefore attend an event. To allow all members the opportunity to attend, events must have a start time of no earlier than 10.00am (except where the event is an "all day" event), if an event has a start time earlier than this the organiser must specify a time and meeting point either somewhere along the route after 10.00am, or at the destination The only exception to this is an event where the club marquee is present as all events where this occurs qualify regardless of notification.
  • Centre meetings do not qualify for the Attendance Trophy.
  • Night/Evening events (except when incorporated into a rally weekend or similar event) do not qualify, as this would exclude members who have long distances to travel to either the start point or venue.
  • All events must be open to all members of the Suzuki Owners Club without prejudice.
  • Members may attend by any form of transport, although motorcycles are the preferred method.
  • The Attendance Trophy runs from the AGM to the day before the following year's AGM, unless otherwise stated in "Events News".

Signing In

  • At each qualifying event there must be a signing in sheet. This can be the official SOC form or any other form that can be written on by attendees. It must be headed with the Event's name and the date. (Official forms are available from the Events Secretary)
  • The form must contain columns for: Name, Membership Number, Gender, Centre (if applicable). Mileage to the event from home and a column to state whether they are a rider or pillion.
  • A membership card should be shown on signing in.
  • Entries on the form with no membership number or an incorrect membership number will be discarded.
  • Illegible writing will have the entry discarded - please use BLOCK CAPITALS.
  • If arriving other than by motorcycle, generally the members are recorded as they had attended on a motorcycle.
  • Someone usually a pillion will be recorded as a pillion, a rider as a rider, unless otherwise stated on the sheet.
  • The form should be returned to the SOC PO Box number as soon after the event as possible to allow the update of the computer records. Only data given on the form is recorded.
  • For every event attended each member is awarded 5 points and their mileage is noted, the members centre will receive 1 point for each centre member signing in at an event The mileage is to act as a tie- breaker in the event of several people having the same number of points. The mileage also determines some of the awards in its own right.

AWARDS

Only one award is made per member each year as per the following list:

  • Overall Winner: Awarded to the member that heads the Rider Table with the most points. • Rider Runner Up: There are two awards in this category, one male and one female, and they are awarded to the member(s) with the second highest points tally in the Rider Table, if one of these persons has the highest mileage, they will be given the choice of which award they wish to receive, Runner up or mileage
